Security operatives in the Port City of Takoradi have seized large quantities of cocaine imported from Panama.
Mr Charles Forson, Western Regional Public Relations Officer of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), confirmed the seizure to the media in Takoradi on Saturday.
He said both the clearing agent and consignee of the substance had been arrested but their names had been withheld for security reasons.
He said the substance was imported from Panama and upon a tip-off, the National Narcotics Control Board and the Customs Division of the GRA impounded the drugs.
Mr Forson said the case had been taken over by the National Security in Accra for further investigations.
Ghana had been used as a transit point for narcotics in recent years and the Government of Ghana had tightened security at its entry points to curb the drug business.
