One of the two police officers cited in a contempt case by the former Deputy Head of the Police Commercial Crimes Unit, Gifty Tehoda failed to attend proceedings in court today resulting in an adjournment to 22nd of May 2013.
The two police officers who were cited for contempt in the Writ filed by the Lawyers of Gifty Mawuenyega Tehoda, alternate their appearance at the Human rights court making it difficult for the Judge to hear the case in the absence of one or all of the respondents.
The two officials are Nantogmah Yakubu Aggrey, Chief Superintendent of Police in-charge of the Rapid Deployment Unit who was the trial officer of the Service Enquiry which led to Tehoda�s dismissal and Commissioner of Police Rose Bio Atinga, the Chairman of the Central Disciplinary Board.
The Human Rights Court in Accra Presided over by Justice Kofi Essel-Mensah served a hearing notice to the two police officials after they failed to appear in court on January 23 for the initial hearing on the substantive case.
