The Ghana Prisons Service has indicated that the presidential candidate of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) in the 2004 elections, George Aggudey will be treated like all other prisoners.
The former presidential candidate officially begun his three-month jail sentence at the Nsawam medium security prison today.
Mr. Aggudey who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Gocrest Security Limited was sentenced by an Accra Circuit Court for defaulting in the payment of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) contributions of his workers amounting to over GHC 2.6 million.
He was however hospitalized at the Police Hospital after receiving the jail sentence.
Speaking to Citi News, Head of Public Relations at the Ghana Prisons Service, DSP Courage Astem said Mr. Aggudey will be treated like any other prisoner.
Mr. Aggudey is just a normal prisoner, he is a normal convict and maybe probably because he is not feeling well, he must be put at the infirmary where sick prisoners are put. Otherwise, he is not a special prisoner.
According to him, Mr. Aggudey's transfer to the Nsawam medium security prison to begin his sentence means by the Police standard, he is well, that is why they brought him.
