He said after failing to honour the promise, Akuffo demanded for a refund of his money.

ACP Atibilla said the couple decided to refund the money to Akuffo, but later hatched a plan with two of the suspects, Nyamekye and Issaka to rob the deceased of the amount soon after the money had been given to him.

He said Nyamekye and Issaka later contacted Fati who led them to the other accomplices now at large.

ACP Atibilla said on February 11, at about 7pm, Akuffo went to the couple’s, house for the GH¢5,000 and a cheque for GH¢375 as interest on the money.

He said after refunding the money, the assailants who were using a Toyota RAV 4 vehicle with registration number GH1379G attacked Akuffo about 400 metres from the couple’s house with a knife and bolted away.

ACP Atibilla said Akuffo was left in a critical condition but was later rushed to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital by some residents but died on arrival.
