Finatrade Foundation, corporate social responsibility arm of Finatrade, has presented 250 protective coats worth GH₵10,000 for use by the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research.

The donation was in recognition of the Institute’s tremendous contribution to medical research and health in general in Ghana and the sub-region.

Mr Elias Daher, Group Human Resource Manager of the Finatrade Group of Companies, said Finatrade has supported Noguchi in times past by covering the cost of the purchase of a microscope.

“We already have a strong relationship with the University of Ghana and we are happy that as a company the Noguchi Memorial Research Institute is one of the research institutes we are extending our support,” he said.

The Executive Secretary of the Finatrade Foundation, Mr John Awuni, noted that Finatrade Foundation’s activities focuses on the areas of agriculture, education and health.

“We are aware that the Institute always adheres to international standards, and this donation is one way of supporting them to continue to provide high quality and safe medical research and practice to the whole country,” he stated.

He explained that since 2003, the Foundation has supported more than 200 under-graduate and post-graduate students studying agriculture-related courses in four of the country’s public universities.

Mr Daher pledged the Foundation’s commitment to support the health sector in the area of research and assist less privileged patients critically ill and in need of surgery.

The Director of the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, Dr Kwadwo Ansah Koram, who received the coats, thanked Finatrade Group for its kind gesture and pledged the commitment of the institute to make maximum use of the protective coats.
