Ms Akua Konadu, an educationist, has called on Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to remove billboards erected at roundabouts and traffic light intersections to prevent road crashes.
Speaking to the GNA in Sunyani, Ms Konadu said billboards blocked the view of drivers and pedestrians which could result in tragedies.
Ms Konadu said billboards were expected to educate and inform the public on issues but they were now creating a public nuisance.
She said this needed immediate attention since it could add up to defaced billboards, dirty banners and indiscriminate posting of bills which had taken over the beauty of some communities and towns.
Tattered and dirty banners used for some programmes are still hanging around principle streets creating unsightly scenes and posing public nuisance, Ms Konadu said.
