ACCIDENT INVOLVING VOLTA RIVER AVIATION HELICOPTER
The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority has been informed of an accident involving a helicopter operated by Volta River Aviation with Call Sign Tuhaa near one of the oil rigs at Cape three points.
The helicopter with eight persons on board was en route from Takoradi to the oil rig Jack Ryag.
Contact between Takoradi Tower and Flight Tuhaa was lost at about 1303 hours. A helicopter was subsequently dispatched by the Air Force to conduct a search for the missing helicopter at 1438 hours.
At this moment, the cause of the accident is not known.
However, a rescue operation is underway by the Ghana Air Force, Tullow, NHV Aviation, PHI and the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority.
