Fire gutted a taxi cab at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra Wednesday afternoon destroying the vehicle completely.
The vehicle which was moving towards Accra was said to have developed what was suspected to be an electrical fault, according to an eyewitness, Daniel Sabik.
The incident happened at the traffic lights in front of the Vodafone office at Kwame Nkrumah Circle, one of the busy areas of the capital city of Accra.
The driver of the taxi, who was alone in the vehicle at the time of the incident was said to have quickly parked after detecting smoke from the bonnet.
He attempted to put the fire out but was unsuccessful as it engulfed the vehicle.
The incident attracted a crowd and created vehicular traffic congestion at the place..
According to Mr Sabik, fire service personnel responded to distress calls and quenched the fire but not before it had completely destroyed the vehicle with registration number GS 79 11 Y.
