Dr Mark Nii Lamptey, Chairman of the Gomoa West District of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), has urged African leaders to create an open and receptive platform for their people to participate in dialogues on all important matters involving the promotion of their lives.

They must also focus on the socio-economic development strategy of the African Union (AU) to take the continent out of poverty.

These were contained in a Press Statement issued by the APRM at Apam, and copied to the Ghana News Agency as part of activities marking the African Union Day celebration.

Dr. Lamptey suggested that good health, education and socio-economic development of the people, must be the priority of the leaders, if good democratic governance should make any meaning to the people on the continent.

He again urged them to come together to combat terrorism, and employ early conflict resolution and mediation strategies to avoid dissent views from escalating into full blown conflict.

Dr. Lamptey called for quick resolution of the civil unrest in Mali and the Central African Republic, to prevent the further lost of lives.

He condemned the abduction of over 200 school girls in Nigeria by Boko Haram, and called on the Islamic group to release them and respect their rights religion and education.
