The Ejisu Juaben Municipal Assembly has passed a resolution to pay all 68 assembly members who will be ending their term this year GH6,000 each as ex-gratia.
This means the Assembly would have to cough up about 408,000 Ghana Cedis at a time it cannot afford 450 Ghana Cedis to fuel equipment in shaping roads in the area.
Assembly Member for Abenase electoral area, Richmond Frimpong, does not support his colleagues resolution.
He is asking his colleagues to be reasonable since the assembly has no money.
He told Luv Fms Erastus Asare Donkor the assembly is collapsing in terms of financial matters.
Richmond Frimpong explains funds to even renovate deplorable roads leading to farming areas are not available.
He is convinced the resolution passed by his colleagues is insensitive.
Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area, Yamoah Ponkoh, has also asked the assembly to review their proposed ex-gratia amount.
The financial position and situation of the assembly [cannot] actually accommodate this type of demand, Yamoah Ponkoh said.
