The family of the late David Lamptey, businessman  and one time financier of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has asked members of the general public to desist from any publications about their departed son henceforth.

They have further directed that they the family members and the widow of the late David Lamptey should be consulted first by any person or persons who intend to put out in the public domain, any publication about the late Mr Lamptey.

These were contained in a rejoinder from the family signed by Mr Emmanuel Lamptey, a brother of the deceased, and made available to the Ghana News Agency (GNA).

The rejoinder was in reaction to a GNA story headlined,“Carl Wilson suspicious about David Lamptey’s death“, which was published on the general news page of Ghanaweb on Wednesday, December 17, 2014.

The family indicated that it had no knowledge of the publication on Ghanaweb, and distanced itself from “such publications and all litigations surrounding it.”

According to the rejoinder, the issue had been dealt with by a competent court of the land and that the family of the deceased upheld and adhered strictly to the ruling of the Court.

It said the family viewed the publication as an act of contempt against the Court’s ruling, and asked the writer and publisher of the article to retract it and apologise to the family.

It said the family wanted absolute peace “so the soul of our dear honourable brother be at peace and rest in the Lord’s bosom.”

The rejoinder further stated that the family had “no discrepancy whatsoever with the widow of our beloved late brother Mrs Gifty Lamptey”, adding that they were determined to continue with “the good works of the late illustrious son of the Family and uphold his name in high esteem even long after his demise.”

·         This rejoinder has been carried in accordance with Article 162 (6) of Chapter 12 of the 1992 Constitution which states: “Any medium for the dissemination of information to the public which publishes a statement about  or against any person shall be obliged to publish a rejoinder, if any, from the person in respect of whom the publication was made.”
