No Ghanaian has died from the xenophobic attacks in South Africa, South Africa’s High Commissioner to Ghana, Lulama Xingwana has said.
According to her, medical reports suggest that Emmanuel Quarcoo died from natural causes.
Lulama Xingwana noted in an interview on Joy FM that enough protection is being provided for Ghanaians in the country.
Meanwhile Ghana’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Kwesi Ahwoi says an evacuation plan has been established, should the need arise for an evacuation of Ghanaian citizens.
Mr Ahwoi gave the assurance that the situation has “calmed down” generally, although there are "still a few hotspots".
