Two [2] galamsey miners were on Monday killed as a result of a mining accident that occurred at Adansi Akrofuom near Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.
The deceased, one identified as Samuel Tetteh aged 28, bodies have been deposited at the morgue in Obuasi hospital.
They were reportedly buried in the pit which they were mining in – “The pit accidentally collapsed on them”.
According to an eyewitness, five [5] others sustain serious injuries and are responding to treatment at the hospital – “They were conveyed on a wooden truck for like an hour from the mining site to the main road”.
Bismark Opoku who confirmed the incident to Peacefmonline.com noted that, he came to the rescue of the other 5 by transporting them in a cab to the hospital to save their lives.
