An unidentified man believed to be in his sixties, has allegedly committed suicide at the Signboard Village, near Nsawam in the Eastern Region.
The deceased, who reportedly hanged himself with a nylon rope on a tree, was found in a decomposed state.
The Nsawam District Police Crime officer, Assistant Superintendent of police (ASP), Rev. John Agbemabiese, told The Ghanaian Times that on July 19, at about 12 noon, the Assemblymember for Kwaforkorm Electoral Area, Daniel Beku, accompanied by some farmers reported a dead person in the bush.
He said the police proceeded to the area and found the deceased hanging on the tree wearing a blue-black shirt, a pair of brown trousers, and a pair of black shoes.
He said the body which was in a state of decomposition was infested with maggots.
ASP Agbemabiese said the police retrieved a blue and white handkerchief, a pair of spectacles, an empty Fanta can and a cigarette butt at the scene.
The Crime Officer said due to the decomposed state of the body, the Nsawam District Coroner gave the dispensation order for its burial.
Investigations are on going.
