The Sanaahene of Enyan Denkyira State, Nana Oseadeye Ayeboafo Attuafful I, has pledged to work with all stakeholders in the educational sector to ensure that all children enrolled in school in the area do not drop out.

He said he would mobilise resources from the private sector to develop schools and create equal opportunity for both boys and girls.

Nana Attuafful said this when he swore an oath to the Paramount Chief of Enyan Denkyira Traditional Area, Osabarima Otsibu VI, at his coronation at Enyan Obontser.

He bemoaned the high level of teenage pregnancies in the region and appealed to the children to concentrate on their studies.

Educational fund
Nana Attuafful has, therefore, launched an educational fund to improve education in all the 36 communities of the paramountcy.

The fund will provide scholarship to brilliant needy students from primary to senior high school level, and 70 per cent will be for girls.

Words of exhortation
Osabarima Otsibu encouraged the new chief to rule with wisdom and humility, saying, “posterity will judge us all on the promises we made to the people.”

He lauded the chief for his initiative and expressed confidence in his desire to work hard to uplift the living standards of the people.

NPP support
Meanwhile the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has donated GH¢5,000 to the chiefs to support the fund.

The contribution is expected to help increase enrolment in schools in the traditional area.

The National Organiser of the party, Mr John Boadu, who made the donation on behalf of the flag bearer, noted that the vision of the chiefs fell in line with the objective of the

NPP of making education accessible to all Ghanaians, in both first and second cycle institutions.
