The Agogo District Police Command has debunked claims that it has taken bribe from Fulani herdsmen in the area.
Residents of Agogo led by the Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North, Kwadwo Baah Agyemang and the Communication Director of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Ernest Owusu Bempah accused the Chiefs and Police in the area of siding with the fulani herdsmen.
According to them, their loved ones are being killed and their properties are being destroyed by the fulani herdsmen but the police and the chiefs are not doing anything about it because they have taken bribes.
But speaking in an interview on Peace FM morning show 'Kokrokoo', the Agogo District Police Commander, A.S.P Asamoah Agyekum, dismissed the allegation saying there is no way they will compromise on its integrity and put the lives of people at risk.
“We urge Agogo residents to have faith in the Police as we are there to protect them. We haven’t taken bribe from the Fulanis. We certainly cannot be supporting the Fulanis to attack our brothers and sisters in Agogo. If the residents were keenly following issues, they would have realized that we have fought hard to ensure the tremendous reduction of Fulani attacks in the area” he stated
