The Accra District Court has ordered the state to release Daniel Asiedu, the man accused of killing the former Member of Parliament (MP) of Abuakwa-North, Mr J. B Danquah Adu, from the custody of the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) and placed in police custody instead on remand.
This was after the prosecution told the court on Tuesday that they were almost done with investigations into the case and will send the docket to the AG's department very soon.
In his ruling, the court, presided over by Mr Stephen Owusu, said the reason given by the prosecution for Asiedu to be kept in BNI custody was for investigations to continue, but now that the investigations were almost completed, there was no need for the accused person to be kept in BNI custody and that he should be remanded into police custody.
