Two policemen (names yet unknown) are currently battling for their lives at the Begoro District Hospital in the Eastern Region, after they were reportedly shot by a group of hooligans on Monday.
DAILY GUIDE gathered that the officers were ambushed by the gang following the arrest of two of their members for breaking a bail bond.
The Deputy Eastern Regional Commander, ACP James Abass Abaah, hinted that the officers sustained severe injuries.
According to him, the gangsters, who were granted bail for the possession of weapons and stealing of cattle, escaped and went into hiding at Begoro. He said that the police had a tipoff about their whereabouts and asked the two cops to go and arrest them.
“On their way back to the police station, the other gang members ambushed the police officers and shot them to enable their accomplice escape,” ACP Abass Abaah assered.
Meanwhile, ACP Abass said his outfit had mounted a manhunt for the gangsters.
