The Supreme Court will today [Thursday], June 30 2016, reconvene to hear Abu Ramadan’s case against the EC asking it to compel the Commission, to delete names of persons who got onto the electoral roll through the use of the National Health Insurance Scheme card as a proof of Ghanaian citizenship.

Today’s hearing follows the submission of all NHIS registrants on the voter roll who registered using the National Health Insurance Scheme card as a proof of Ghanaian citizenship, prior to the 2012 elections.

The court after sitting Thursday June 23, ordered the Commission to furnish it within six days a written detail of steps and modalities it will adopt in cleaning the names of NHIS entrants on the primary document and the re-registration of the same people who would be affected.

The order by the Supreme Court follows the application of a review filed by Abu Ramadan and Frank Nimako seeking clarification of the May 5 judgment by the apex Court on the persons who used the NHIS Card to register in the 2012 general elections.

Kasapa FM’s Daakyehene Ofosu Agyemang said the document that contained what was supposed to be the full lists of the NHIS registrants was delivered Wednesday afternoon to the registry by an official of the commission.
