Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has asked the political parties to tell Ghanaians how they are going to tackle the development challenges of the nation in their election campaign.

This, he said, was important to help the people to make the right decision on voting day.
The Asantehene pointed out that multi-party democracy was not about insults and polarization but improvement of the lives of the people – to help everybody to live in dignity.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu was welcoming the Presidential Candidate of the Opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, to his Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on the day two of his election campaign tour of the Ashanti Region.
Former President John Agyekum Kufuor and other leading members of the party including former Ministers of State, Members of Parliament (MPs), national and regional officers, accompanied him.

The Asantehene advised the parties and their supporters to accept to play by the rules of the game.
They should do away with intemperate language, intolerance and any inappropriate conduct likely to fuel needless political tension and threaten the peace.

He asked that they did everything to ensure that their actions were consistent with the political parties “Code of Conduct”.
Nana Akufo-Addo’s promised to lead the NPP to build a country that worked for everybody.

His government would work hard to return the economy to the path of growth to create jobs and wealth – to end the widespread suffering and despondency.

He vowed not to disappoint and said they would live up to the expectation of the people.
Former President Kufuor asked the party’s faithful to remain focused and unite solidly behind the flagbearer for massive election victory – for efficient management of the economy.
