NDC Member of parliament for Gomoa Central in the Central Region, Hon. Rachel Nana Adwoa Appoh has donated items worth thousands of cedis to farmers in her constituency last Wednesday as part of her birthday celebration which fell on October 6.
She celebrated her birthday with 2000 farmers at Gomoa Abasa.
They received wellington boots, knapsack spraying machines, cutlasses, weedicides and cocoa spraying machines.
According to her, the donation was motivated by the hard work farmers in her constituency keep doing to ensure constituents and Ghanaians at large do not go hungry.
She said these items will motivate them to even work harder and also protect themselves and their crops to yield more as government seek to help farmers grow more and increase export to generate more income.
The District Director of Agric received the items on behalf of the Gomoa Central farmers.
Last year she donated items worth Ghc 50,000 from her MP’s Common Fund which included; 1,200 pieces of cutlasses, 100 pieces of knapsack spraying machines, 100 pairs of Wellington boots and 10 pieces of cocoa spraying machines.
Some of the beneficiaries were farmers in Gomoa Aboso, Ekroful, Benso, Akropong and Ekwamkrom.
She said since most of her constituents are farmers, she promises to support them every farming season.
Short Profile And Achievements of Hon. Rachel Appoh
Hon. Rachel Florence Appoh, aka Nana Adwoa, was born on 6th October, 1980 to the late Mr. Peter Eric Appoh and Mrs. Elizabeth Appoh.
She holds a Master of Science degree in International Accounting and Finance, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the Pentecost University College, Ghana. She also attended the Cape Coast Polytechnic and Nsaba Senior High Schools respectively. She holds ACCA Certificate and a Certificate in Local Government Administration.
Hon. Rachel F. Appoh has a lot of experience in public service, having worked in various capacities with various corporate organizations including Social Security and National Investment Trust (Ssnit), TAJ Investment Limited, Ramani Distribution Limited, AngloGold Ashanti and KAMA Group of companies.
She has also held various positions including: Former Deputy Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Deputy Ranking Member of the Public Accounts Committee, Member of the Parliamentary Committee on Health, and Youth and Sports. She is also a Member of Central Regional NDC Communications Team and a member of the NDC National Elections committee.
Hon. Rachel F. Appoh is very affable, confident, honest, reliable and hard working. She believes in working for the upliftment of the vulnerable in society and giving respect to all and sundry in society irrespective of class or social standing.
As a result of her hard work, probity and accountability, and her resolve to be a good steward to her constituents, Hon. Rachel F. Appoh has been able to bring unprecedented development to her constituency including but not limited to the following:
· Lobbied for Community Day SHS at Gomoa Gyaman
· Support over 500 students with school fees.
· Supported over 2,000 students with educational materials; like mathematical sets, computers, laptops, exercise books etc.
· Constructed sixteen (16) basic schools at Gomoa Achiase, Gomoa Lome, Gomoa Aboso, Gomoa Asebu, Gomoa Kwame Adwer etc.
· Constructed 14 boreholes at Gomoa Akropong, Gomoa Aboso, Gomoa Mpota, Gomoa Beseadze, Gomoa Benso, Gomoa Gyaman etc.
· Furnished five (4) CHPS Compounds at Gomoa Aboso, Gomoa Lome, Gomoa Dahom and Gomoa Ekwakrom.
· Provided farm inputs such as cutlasses, cocoa spraying machine s, wellington boots, knapsack spraying machine to all the 58 communities in the constituency.
· Distributed 4000 pieces of cloths to widows, disabled and orphans in the constituency.
· Lobbied for LEAP benefit for more than 2,000 constituents.
· Built toilet facilities for Gomoa Achiase, Gomoa Osamkrom and Abasa.
· Constructed markets for five (5) communities including Gomoa Oguaakrom, Gomoa Mangoase, among others.
· Facilitated loan facilities for women in over 20 communities.
· Bitumize six (6) major roads in Gomoa Manso, Gomoa Kwame Adwer, Gomoa Dahom, Gomoa Ayensuadze, Gomoa Lome and Gomoa Nsuaem (Project Ongoing).
· Distributed over 3000 bags of cement and 200 packets of roofing sheets to support community self-help projects in over 20 communities.
· Extended electricity to communities such as Gomoa Akropong, Gomoa Mpota, Gomoa Kwame Adwer, Gomoa Abamkwamu etc.
A vote for Hon. Appoh is a vote for Development and Unity in the Gomoa Central Constituency.
