Two persons on a motorbike died in a ghastly accident, near Anyinam in the Eastern Region.
The accident occurred between Enyerisi and Sekyere on the Accra–Kumasi Highway during Easter.
A Sprinter bus crashed into the motorbike the two were travelling on at about 6:45pm on Good Friday.
ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, the Eastern Regional Police Spokesperson, in an interview with DAILY GUIDE, gave the name of one of the deceased as Aliu, but could not mention the name of the other, adding that the motorbike was not registered.
He said preliminary investigations revealed that upon reaching a section of the road on the outskirts of Akim Sekyere, they were knocked down by the Sprinter bus.
He said the driver of a Yutong bus with registration number GT 4990-11, in an attempt to avoid running over the two, lost control of the vehicle and veered off into the nearby bush.
The police officer said the Yuton bus was slightly damaged, but there were no casualties on the bus.
Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased have since been deposited at Nkawkaw Holy Family Hospital morgue pending autopsy.
