Staff of Despite Group of Companies (Peace FM, Neat FM, Okay FM, UTV and Peacefmonline.com) have undergone a one day fire training exercise as part measures to equip them on some fire safety measures.

Fire is often described as a good servant and a bad master.

Hundreds of people have lost their properties and their lives due to fire outbreaks, either domestic or industrial.

Speaking to Peacefmonline.com in an interview, the Fire Command Officer for Abelenkpe District, Mr Benjamin Quarshie explained that the training is to equip staff on the basic fire prevention methods especially at the work place.

Oftentimes, he said, fire outbreaks can be handled before it gets out of hand.

However, lack of training on fire-fighting, may tend to endanger one's life when there is an fire outbreak at home or at the work place.

"We believe that the training will equip members of staff on fire safety and prevention," he said.

He indicated that over the years their research have shown that most fire outbreaks could have been prevented if people had some of training on fire prevention methods.

"We believe that with this training, fire outbreaks could be minimized because in as much as we don’t have an out right recommendation on some of the products people buy or use in their homes, we can help reduce some of the domestic fire outbreaks through this training," he emphasized.

A section of the staff who benefited from the training expressed gratitude to the authorities of the Ghana Fire Service and management of Despite Group for the training workshop.
