The Ghana Prisons Service has cautioned the general public against a scam regarding an ongoing recruitment exercise.

In a statement signed and issued yesterday, Superintendent Vitalis Aiyeh, Chief Public Relations Officer at the Prisons Service, disclosed that some individuals who pose as members of the recruitment team, are extorting money from applicants, with the excuse of placing their names on a protocol list.

According to him, moneys ranging from GH₵3,000.00 to GH₵6,000.00 are demanded from unsuspecting applicants.

He hinted that the 2018 Recruitment Exercise is at its Second Phase and that the security service is yet to shortlist applicants who successfully passed the aptitude test.

“We are yet to contact qualified applicants via Short Message Services (SMS), emails, as well as have their names posted on the various Regional Prisons Establishments where the tests were conducted,” the statement mentioned.

He further called on the public not to pay money to any one in relation to the ongoing Recruitment Exercise.

“No individual or group of persons can help anyone since the process is as transparent as possible.  The Public should therefore be wary of fraudsters and should not pay money to any one in relation to the ongoing Recruitment Exercise since they will be doing that at their own risk,” the statement stressed.
