The government has been advised to prioritize the One-District-One-Factory programme as a main source of creating sustainable employment for the increasing rate of graduates in the country.
According to a Human Capital Expert, Mrs. Elsie Apau-Klu, the Nations Builders Corps (NaBCo) programme may not be the best solution to the Ghana’s increasing rate of unemployment, citing the possible political juggles it may suffer in the hands of politicians moving forward.
"Government should focus on building a sustainable employment policies and programmes. The One District One Factory would have been a laudable initiative to solve the unemployment challenges in the country. These factories can employ up to 100 people, and considering the number of districts we have, this could be a huge improvement on the unemployment saga and will be more realistic and sustainable," she said.
Speaking on GN Morning U.K on the efficacy of the NaBCo recruits, Mrs Apau-Klu questioned the employable nature of the NaBCo recruits after the progamme ends, stating that, "who says after the two, three years of NaBCo trainees will be relevant for the sectors that will employ them. Starting and abandon such programs only create unrealistic expectations for the young people’.’
"The National Service Scheme already provides us the avenue to do some hands on learning at the job, we can recognize and reorient the NSS to give young people practical experience. For me going, to a third or second level of giving that type of practical experience I think is a waste of time for the young people," she added.

Elsie Eklu ntokwa afuno mo,aka akekakeka! ndc shame on you, shame on you, shame on! nation wreckers, anti-Ghana elements! stop talking if our policies and bring your visions, or you people have insomnia so can't sleep and can't think deep! what dies she say she is? Human capital expert? and where did she get that? another meaningless of education! was she not in Ghana when unemployed graduates association was formed? people with no vision giving advise how can our country move forward. They want infrastructure first before free SHS but for the 4 years they promised 200 Community Day SHS they completed only 13 so they were going to use every 4 years for 13 how many years were they going to use to complete the 200? now they are telling us to live the unemployed graduates to roam about and use tramadol to ease their stress and wait till the 1D1 factory is all completed and such people got the chance to our presidency never again ! never again! education without wisdom and sense is meaningless, that's why Africa is suffering with the educated elites being corrupt, they have no idea about nothing and when somebody is also blessed with wisdom out of hate and jealousy they try to destroy by using their birdbrains to criticize and giving unwanted and us*eless suggestions like they know it all and are better ! keep your suggestion or whatever to yourself and give it your party ndc after 50 years in opposition. We will not let our children go hungry and ask them to wait till we finish pounding fufu, we will give them some of the cooked plantain or cassava to kill the hunger till we finish making the fufu. Maame, you can starve your children till you finish cooking, your custom and tradition is different from mine so NABCO is hope for our youth, NABCO will light their tunnel. Ndc is a very wicked, callous and cruel party .
Prophetic Headline: "NABCo beneficiaries agitate over unpaid salaries."
We need more sustainable jobs not another national service scheme in the name of nabco
Well said madam. The truth is painful but it has to be said. What happened to the 1D1F. As usual the cheap politics
Nabco will just be a waste
Human capital expert you said? I doubt! How can one be an expert on human capital and fail to read and understand government policy? Who brought the 1D1F policy you are referring to and what is the purpose? Heard of planting for food and jobs and you mean you do not understand that factories for 1D1F will need agricultural produce to process? Do you mean you do not care about the plan to exploit bauxite and iron ore to provide the capital needed to grow and expand the economy in order embark on grand economic transformation? Do you hear of the revolution in the cocoa sector and the increased yields in other food crops in the country? Do you understand the import of the 1V1D in the northern regions and the transformation it will bring into those regions? The unemployed graduates cannot wait for 3 to 4 years for all these laudable programmes to mature before being employed. Do you in your field of expertise understand short term, medium and long term solutions to problems? Please do not be like Frank Cudjoe of IMANI and others who hide behind titles to advertise their ignorancce! Ghanaian "experts" must sit up and be serious!
