The National Media Commission (NMC) has elected Yaw Boadu-Ayeboafoh as the 9th chairman of the commission.

The election of the new chairman took place during the commission’s first general meeting held on Friday, November 30, 2018, in the Conference Room of the Secretariat after the inauguration of the members.

President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Roland Affail Monney, who is now a member of the new Board of NMC, withdrew veteran journalist, Dr. Doris Yaa Dartey, who was one of two GJA members on the board.

The current commission was sworn-in on Friday by the Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo at the Supreme Court amidst controversy over the action of the GJA President.

Mr. Boadu-Ayeboafoh holds a Bachelor Degree in English, Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism, Postgraduate Diploma in Development Communication, Masters Degree in Communications Studies and a Barrister at law.

He started work as a journalist at the Graphic Communications Group Limited in 1983, but left in 1999 to serve as the Executive Secretary of the NMC.

He later returned to Graphic Communications Group Limited in 2003 as Editor of Daily Graphic.

Mr. Boadu-Ayeboafoh was appointed as Director of Newspaper in 2008.

He served as Ashanti and Northern Regional Editor, News and Features Editor, Assistant Editor, Deputy Editor and Associate Editor of Daily Graphic until his compulsory retirement from public service in August 2018.

He is also an Associate Professor at the Christian Services University College (CSUC).
