Police in Dubai has confirmed that the Chief Executive Officer of troubled gold dealership firm, Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah popularly known as NAM 1 has been arrested.
However, contrary to reports that he was arrested on Saturday, January 13, Dubai officials claim he has been under arrest since December 7, 2018 over a botched gold transaction.
A statement from the Ghana Police Service and signed by Director-General/Public Affairs, indicate that “Ghanaian officials have visited NAM 1 in the custody of Dubai police".
“Engagements with Dubai authorities on the next steps have commenced and the police administration assures the public that due process will be followed," the statement added.
NAM 1, is at the centre of heated controversy since the closure of his gold collectible firm in September last year.
A warrant for his arrest was issued by a circuit court in Accra on 9 January after he failed to pay back monies owed to investors in his 'failed' company.

Please the gold diggers who have lost their money should stay away from our tax money. We work so hard, and pay so much taxes, and live within our means and invest with banks we know, who offer us less than 105 of what Menzgold offers. So we dont want our tax money to be used to cover the risk of these gold diggers!!! Akuffo Addo be warned if you are thinking of paying back peoples money to them!!!
I doubt if this guy will be brought to Ghana. He is enjoying his wealth in dubai and they are deceiving you that he is been arrested. these ple should forget their monies. its gone forever. next time when you see something that will make you greedy you look the other way. I dont like to say it but the truth be told the customers were greedy. they shd just forget it before they all die of heart attack because I don't these arabs will release him to Ghana.
And the letter is not signed!!
If the country of the arrest has their own reasons other than the country requesting the suspect’s arrest, why would they just inform his country of origin? In the worst case scenario if the arresting country is not a member of the Interpol it would even be more harder to share his arrest to the suspect’s country of origin.
Hahahaha... heei Ghana Police! They didn’t even know of this and started issuing Intelpol warrant of arrest. Ghana is a strange place!
Did the officials in Ghana knew of his arrest before issuing the warrant? Just asking.
he is likely to walk free
