Ahmed Hussein-Suale, the investigative journalist with Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ Tiger Eye PI, who was shot and killed on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, feared he would be assasinated following the publication of his image by the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong.
This, is according to the Committee to Project Journalists (CPJ), an independent, nonprofit organization that promotes press freedom worldwide.
According to CPJ, Ahmed, in September 2018 expressed the fear that “powerful figures in Ghana sought to harm him.”
The CPJ, in a report on its website released following Hussein-Suale’s death, said Ahmed told the organisation via WhatsApp that “Since my image was published and [the] public was incited against me [...] many people have attempted [to attack me]. These criminals after us are people who are [...] associated with powers that be in Ghana and can do anything and get away with it."
"Indeed, it [has] been hinted in some quarters that the very man who published [my image] said he was doing everything possible to quell [my] existence," the report said.
The CPJ Africa Program Coordinator Angela Quintal who expressed disappointment in the incident called on government to “prove itself willing to hold accountable those who attack the press.”
"This shooting is a grave signal that journalists cannot work safely to keep the public informed or hold power to account in Ghana," she added.

Who in Ghana doesn't fear for their lives??!! Get a grip people. When you position yourself in such a sensitive "lifestyle" there are re-precautions, precautions and consequences. Just like Anas himself said in the BBC interview its not a fun and easy lifestyle. We can't keep "blaming" others for blindly for every death situation, good or bad. Its either a witch, a curse... there is always something/someone to be blamed. Redundant!! Hopefully this is not a decoy to divert attention from Nana Appiah Mensah. We're still waiting for his arrival at Kotoka... just saying
Why won't he fear for his life when all you do is to set people up. this could be an inside job though. sharing the booties from a deal can create confusion. seriously, i don't understand why Anas is the only one who gets protection when he is not the only one doing the investigation. he leaves these guys to their own fate. Yes Ken may have helped outsiders to execute their plan but let us also not forget that Anas can take advantage to do this when he suspects a fall out. he will not allow any of his workers to expose him again after he has been exposed by others. I just pity those who work with him but that is their choice. Nobody has even bordered to say RIP.
ERIC,WHAT KEN DID IN WOYOME CASE WAS GOOD FOR GHANA,IT IS ONLY BAD PEOPLE WHO WILL CONDEMN KEN,I THINK ANAS HAS AND THE TEAM HAS STEP ON SO MANY TOES,BUT WHAT ANAS AND THE LAWYER DID INITIALLY WAS TO DIVERT ATTENTION,THEY SHOULD HAVE ALLOWED POLICE TO DO THEIR WORK,HOW CAN ANAS LAWYER ASK POLICE TO ARREST KEN AND ANAS ALSO POINT FINGERS AT KEN,WHAT WERE THEY TRYING TO DO,WE MUST THINK,I BELIEVE POLICE SHOULD INVESTIGATE THE SACKED JUDGES,NYANTAKYI,AND ANAS,SINCE IT IS COMING OUT THAT AHMED IS ALMOST FALLING OUT WITH ANAS,IN SECRET ORGANIZATIONS LIKE CIA ,TIGERPI IF YOU FALL OUT WITH THEM,THEY WILL ELIMINATE YOU,I THINK KEN IS NOWHERE THOSE BEHIND THIS KILLING,THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT HE TALK TOO MUCH,HE MUST GUIDE HIS TEMPER,BUT SHOWING AHMED PICTURE ON TV WAS NOT ILLEGAL
Let Ken Agyapong know that he has a hand in the killing of this young man directly or indirectly. When he SHOWED his face to all the world, what did he expect? Ken, you have also wronged people like Mr Woyome and the like. Someone can also take you on! You are as powerful as you think. Everyone has got his/her master!
what happened to a person is not guilty until proven beyond reasonable doubt.
They started working on Ken, he had to stop them. Mr President don't pretend you don't know who killed this guy, even the BBC knows it.
What we should realise is that Ken Agyapong did not have a problem with the deceased but rather with Anas. Yes maybe publishing his face for the world to see was not the best.
THIS IS FALSE NEWS, ANAS KNOWS ABOUT THE KILLING, HE SHOULD'T DECEIVE US, WE ARE SMARTER THAN HIM.
WE KEEP ON GETTING ***barred word*** BY THE LIKES OF KENNEDY AGYAPONG. HE DOES ALL THESE ***barred word*** THINGS AND TURN AROUND TO ACCUSE HIS PARTY,GOVERNMENT JUST TO LOOK GOOD IN THE EYES OF THE OPPONENTS.. THEN HE GOES BACK TO THE EVIL HE IS DOING BUT HE SHOULD KNOW NOT ALL PEOPLE CAN BE ***barred word*** AND THIS TIME HE'S BIT THE VERY WRONG MEAT.. WATCH HOW KENNEDY AGYAPONG THE BIG TALKER GOES DOWN.. ***barred word*** POLITICIAN THINKS HE'S MOST IMPORTANT. GHANAIANS POPULACE SHOULD REASON UP.
Nana Peter you are unintelligent. You dont reason critically. Anas is biased. He is not an objective person. He traps people, disgraces them for his selfish interests, sells them to BBC and aljazeera for money and you want us to support this criminal? Why is it that Anas doesn't investigate his own family together with kweku baako?? This criminal uses others he dislikes as scape goats. Are human beings ANGELS ON EARTH? Nonnnnnnnnnsense
