Four persons have been arrested by the Central Regional Police Command in connection with the murder of a 14-year-old girl in the area.

The deceased, Ivy Tsibu, was killed for alleged ritual purposes at Twifo Agona in the Central Region.

The prime suspect in the case, Kwabena Asamoah, 35, was arrested at his hideout on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 and mentioned Abraham Entie, 28, Kofi Owusu, 36, and Akwasi Asamoah as his accomplices when he was interrogated further.

Speaking to journalists, DSP Irene Oppong, Central Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), told journalists that the prime suspect was arrested at his hideout upon information police received.

“And when interrogated, the prime suspect admitted that he and his accomplices killed the young girl for money rituals”, DSP Irene Oppong disclosed.

How Body Was Found

Explaining how the body of the deceased was found, the Regional Police PRO noted that the father of the deceased, Mr George Tsibu, on Saturday, January 12, 2019, lodged a report at the Morkwa Police Station about his missing daughter.

Mr Tsibu reported that at about 9am on Saturday, January 12, 2019, his daughter, Ivy Tsibu, left home and did not return and that he suspected Asamoah, a resident of the area, of abducting her.

DSP Oppong said at about 1:00 pm on the same day, a search party discovered the body of the deceased at Twifo Agona Cemetery.

The police in the company of the complainant proceeded to the scene and found the body of the deceased with ants all over it.

She asserted that after careful inspection, it was revealed that there were marks of violence all over the body of the deceased indicating a foul play.

She said that photographs of the lifeless body were taken by a civilian photographer after which the body was conveyed to the Twifo Praso Government Hospital for preservation.
