A car dealer and a cobbler trading in counterfeit goods including logbooks and special trade license plates popularly known as DV plates of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital, have been arrested.
Osei Kwadwo, 47 and his accomplice, Halidu Issah, 23, were arrested from their hideout at the Bekwai Roundabout on Monday, according to the police.
ASP Godwin Ahianyo, spokesman of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, said the fake items were found inside the garage of one Osei Boateng during a search.
He told journalists during a news conference yesterday that the suspect, Osei Kwadwo, the car dealer, who was first arrested, mentioned Halidu Issah as his source of supply.
Both men have since been detained to assist police with investigation and moves are underway to arrest other members of the gang, according to ASP Ahianyo.
