Mr. Kwaku Ofori-Asiamah, Minister of Transport, has said the massive automation operations of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has transformed the Road Transport Service Sub-Sector by reducing the turn-around time.
The move, he said, has reduced cases of fraudulent practices, revenue leakage, and ensured effective and efficient service delivery.
Speaking at the Meet-the-Press series in Accra on Tuesday, Mr. Ofori-Asiamah said due to the massive investment in cutting edge technology services being offered, services at the DVLA has improved and process products such as driver’s licenses are secured.
“Due to improvement in business processes at the Authority, a valid driver’s license is now produced within 2 to 4 weeks. In the past, it took an average of 3 to 9 months for a valid driver’s license to be produced,” he said.
The Agency, the Minister said, would continue with the upgrade of the information communication technology installations to improve efficiency.
To take the services of the DVLA to the last mile, he said, the Agency has planned to introduce DVLA Express Mobile Service (DEMOBS) to contribute to the reduction of service delivery time.
Mr. Ofori-Asiamah said as part of other innovations to serve customers well, the DVLA has translated the computer-based test for drivers into five selected local dialects namely Twi, Ewe, Ga, Hausa, and Dagbani.

Mr Minister, I'm sorry to tell you that the online vehicle registration is not working. After registering on line, you are issued with a ***barred word*** invoice showing amount to pay. You then rush to their office and they clueless about the online service. You're then compelled to go back to their own agents whereby you are charged and your genuine vehicle registration is provided within 3 hours. Kwasi Agyeman Busia must sit up if he want us to believe that he is delivering.
