The Member of Parliament for Adentan constituency of the Greater Accra Region, Hon. Yaw Buaben Asamoa, and his team on Saturday, 6th April 2019, organized a massive clean-up exercise in some parts of the Adentan Township.

The massive clean-up exercise according to the Adentan lawmaker was to observe the monthly clean-up exercise empowered by the government to help make Ghana clean.

He again said it was also meant to create awareness among residents in Adantan of the negative attitude of littering the environment with plastic and other materials and their effect on the environment.

Briefing peacefmonline.com after the exercise, Lawyer Buaben Asamoa, said he was determined to collaborate with all the youth and the good people of Adentan especially Ashiyea, Adentan Frafraha and its environs to sensitize residents on the need to keep their environment clean all the time to enable government achieve its vision of keeping Ghana clean.

He expressed the hope that the Saturday exercise in the constituency would be a turning point in creating a healthy environment in the area, noting that another reason for the frequent clean-up exercises was to inculcate the spirit of volunteerism in the youth of the area.

"If we leaders refuse to lay down rules and regulations and also set good example to them they will continue to litter around, secondly when you organized such events people get involved so it is good to encourage such act to build volunteerism in the youth to help the president achieved his vision of keeping Ghana clean. If we want to see progress we must learn to leave a clean and good environment", he stated.

He reiterated that the exercise was done to prevent outbreak of cholera in the constituency as places such as Ashiyie and Frafraha were filthy.

According to him, the sanitation situations in Adentan especially Ashiyei was getting worse and stressed the need for all to contribute to keep the area clean.

Lawyer Buaben, therefore, called on the youth and key stakeholders in Adentan to help educate the residents to refrain from littering the streets with plastic containers and other materials after the exercise.
