Following Sunday’s fire incident at the Sekondi Office of the Stool Lands Administration and Land Valuation, NPP MP for Esikado Ketan and Minister for Railways Development, Hon Joe Ghartey has visited the scene.
Accompanied by the presiding Bishop of Methodist Church - Sekondi Diocese, Right Rev. Daniel Degraft Brace – the two were briefed on the situation.
The Western Regional Lands Officer, Seth Owusu, noted that some of the land documents are likely to be secured by their automatic backup system.
The over-100-year-old office of the Stool Lands Administration and Land Valuation caught fire around 7 am on Sunday.
It took about four hours to bring the fire under control. The cause of the fire on the over 100-year-old office complex is yet to be ascertained.
Mr Ghartey has however commended officers of the Ghana National Fire Service, the Navy and Ghana Ports and Harbour Authority who all assisted in putting out the fire.
