The Ministry of Education has appealed to parents and the general public to exercise restraint as it works to correct the anomalies that have greeted the placements of students to Senior High, Vocational and Technical Schools.
In a statement issued by its Communications Director, Slow Vincent Assafuah, the Ministry assured that it was working assiduously to rectify the challenges faced so far.
Parents and candidates have been at the Black Stars Square in Accra, seeking redress to the mishaps that have marred the placement process.
According to the Ministry in the statement, “these issues are mainly to do with change of school (90%).”
It added that “others include change of track/program/residential status and self-placement issues.”
The statement indicated that “we wish to inform the general public that the selection of schools is the prerogative of the candidates, by extension parents and guardians.”
It said “these choices cannot be changed by the GES (Ghana Education Service) or the computerized School Selection and Placement Systems (CSSPS).
