Ghana Health Service (GHS) has confirmed that the country has recorded 70 more cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of persons with COVID-19 to 636.
Per the GHS' latest update on its website, "as of 13th April 2020, at 23:00HRS, a total of 44,421 persons have been tested with 636 being positive for COVID-19."
In the past two weeks since the institution of enhanced surveillance, restriction of movement and continuous public education to prevent the spread of cases of COVID-19. This has resulted in "intensive contact tracing and testing" leading to the recording of several cases.
According to the GHS, the breakdown of the 636 positive cases are as follows: "seventeen (17) have been treated, reverted to negative on repeat tests and discharged, 605 cases have been categorised as mild disease and are on treatment, two (2) are categorized as moderate to severe cases, none in critical state currently and eight (8) have died."
However, "of the 636 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 268 were reported from the routine surveillance, 253 from enhanced surveillance activities and 115 from travellers under mandatory quarantine in both Accra and Tamale.
Regions that have reported cases are Greater Accra, Ashanti, Central, Eastern, Western, Volta, Northern, North East, Upper East, and Upper West regions," the GHS said.
17 Recoveries
Earlier on Tuesday, the GHS disclosed that seventeen (17) persons have fully recovered from the Coronavirus infection.
"We have 17 persons who have recorded negatives and are obviously clinically cured," Dr. Patrick Aboagye, Director-General of the Ghana Health Service disclosed at a press briefing on Tuesday.
Medically, before a person is officially declared to have fully recovered from the virus, he/she has to test negative twice.
Meanwhile, there are a further sixty-six (66) people who have also tested negative but are not included in the full recovery cases because they are yet to conduct a second test on them.
The number of recovery cases will come to 83 after their results prove negative on second testing, hopefully.

Congratulations! GHS for your practical work on the ground creating awareness of the dangerous COVID 19 pandemic in Ghana. But I will like to appeal to the GHS, in as much as they are presenting reports and especially figures of COVID 19 in Ghana, please we are expecting the GHS to present a sceintif drwaings of the actuall COVID 19 figures, as many other countries have been working with. I am suggesting a sort of graphic drawing work of the figures you are presenting. In many european countries as much as they are presenting figures, they have additional graphic drwaings. This can help ghanaians to understand the COVID 19 figures, how the graphic drwings is going high or coming low. Probably from each region where COVID 19 test is discovered, add your graphic drwaings. Thank You
my people , not to discredit the medics or the covid 19 team but, are they doing us a service or de service wont it be better at least if they zone into the region, district and area they are getting the cases so a typical Ghanaian get scared, aware and observe the basic lock down rules? what method are they using to get a population of 30M 140 cases a day compared to US of billions of people reporting 1,000's a day this is not security strategy and if am not wrong, time they tell us everything and how they are getting the cases we tired and sick of the fear and panic reportage pls. we do not need any research to directly spend the contributions to government, we must not bring the Ghanaian thing here, long feasibility, studies etc long theories, directly spend the money for food, basic health kits, PPE etc to the people no need for any budget etc, MP'S must get involve with the DCE etc to quickly assist. people are dying of fear, panic , hunger and thirst and is time the more nonse.nse grammar is stopped and move in to help feed people
Fellow Ghanaians, let us educate ourselves on simple basic hygiene and follow lockdown instructions else the curve would never be flattened. Also we should not politicized the pandemic because the deadly virus has no boundary. Why is the president giving figures at night- no questions and answers. This is not the time to score political points because we were not prepared
Ghanaians are not following simple lockdown instructions due to mistrust in figures coming out. What is happening? Is it because our leader failed to lead by example or ignored advice from the society or politicization of the pandemic. The deadly virus was imported and so it is neither the fault of NPP or NDC. Our problem is our preparedness and strategies to fight the pandemic. Also, our commitment to subject ourselves to random testing. I think the best approach would be to come out with correct figures to create awareness that the virus is deadly and very real and intensify public education. I am deeply frightened that certain areas in ghana do not believe corona virus is real. WHAT IS HAPPENING
