President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has warned of a possible partial lockdown should the surge in COVID-19 cases continue.
Speaking in his 22nd COVID-19 address to the nation, he said "we do not want to go back to the days of partial lockdown...but should that become necessary that should the number of active cases continue to increase at the current rate, I'll have no option but to reimpose these restrictions because it is better to be safe than sorry".
According to the President, "...Our COVID-19 treatment centers have gone from zero patients to now being full because of the upsurge in infections...particularly worrying is the Ghana Health Service recording 200 new cases daily....13 out of 16 regions have recorded active cases..."
"...our health infrastructure will be overwhelmed if the situation continues...it is my duty to protect lives and livelihood. In furtherance of this, I've instructed the Inspector General of police to direct officers, to ensure the rigorous enforcement of the law on mask-wearing..." and to ensure the closure of nightclubs, pubs, beaches operating in defiance of the law.

Bold decision, but when is the inspector general going to start arresting defaulters? I went to Accra Central business district yesterday and almost 1 out 10 by my Obsecration are wearing the mask in the overly crowded area. Ironically the most of police personnel that is going cause the arrest of defaulters are themselves either not wearing or pulled it under their chin. We need to take this Corona Virus pandemic serious as it is wrecking havoc to life and mighty economies around the globe.
Why should our kids go back to school when the disease is fast spreading faster more than ever before? And the wisdom is?????
Do you know the side effects of the vaccination you are refering to? who told you that Ghanaians are ready for vaccination. Massa stop that ntoa, ntoa no and allow our old boy to govern our economy with wisdom. Are these whites going to offer any quality vaccine to Africans? if you cant stay in U.K come home and let go to farming. ***barred word***
Partial Lockdown?? Yes !!! What about Ghanas preparation for the wellcoming of the Vacination. As many countries are requesting for the vacines and had laid out a concrete and pragmatic planning for their citizens to be vacinated, , the president of the Republic of Ghana is talking about partial lock down as a solution to the second surging of the virus in Ghana. The Vacines are now availiable and many countries around the globe have started practicing the use of the vacine. What pragmatic plans is laid out from the Ministry of Health and the Covid 19 Team, preparing Ghanaians for the innoculation? Is the ministry of health, Covid 19 team and the government of Ghana going to wait for directives from the WHO regarding the innoculation for Ghanaians? Many countries around the Globe without any directives from the WHO had organised and negotiated directly with some of the vacine companies, such as Fizer and BioNtech, Moderna, and Astra and these countries have negotiated with these companies for millions of vacines for their citizens. India for example had been able to have local productions of vacines for her citizens and they are ready to serve the whole world. Partial lockdown, Yes!!! But Ghanaians are expecting much from the ministry of healh and Covid 19 Team, as well as the President of the Republic of Ghana, " how long should Ghanaians wait in orderto be vacinated". The V.D. for Ghana. When would that be possible for Ghanaians. Should Ghanaians have to wait for the so called law makers in that house of "parliament" to take six months to politicise and affirming the Vacination Day" for Ghanaians. This will indeed take us from partial lockdown to total lockdown. Please, Mr. President, tell us when will be the Vacination Day for Ghanaians? Maybe in your next 23rd Covid 19, Address to the Nation. Thank You
Mr President you flouted your own order with the campaigning, all these people have mouths to feed just like how you and other parties wanted to come to power. The beach is essential for well being so reconsider please, Sandbox has been opened for a long time its not fair because it is allegedly owned by the wife of your executive secretary
Second partial lockdown may not be good for Ghana. Yeah I agree. I don't think our president should be held responsible for covid-19 deaths if we as a people deliberately ignore covid-19 protocols. Go about our daily lives as if nothing is going on. Look at the almighty USA and other western countries who's people downplayed covid-19 as a hoax/lies. Demonstrated against their leadership. Followed conspiracy theories how have they fared now. With all their wealth, scientific research and breakthrough. We don't even have a vaccine. Come to Kumasi places like Adum,Alabar, Kejetia and other places and see for yourself how many are on a nose mask. Not to mention our daily trotro and taxis. Don't know about other regions. It pains me when we politicise such a pandemic and still have people who will buy such ***barred word***. We reap what we sow.
