The Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah has reacted to public comments about a reported case of theft in her residence in Abelemkpe involving her domestic workers.
The Minister is reported to have called for the arrest and prosecution of her staff who allegedly stole monies including 1 million dollars and 300,000 euros and some items from her private residence.
The matter has sparked public concerns including the minority NDC calling for her dismissal.
But Cecilia Dapaah in a statement released in Accra on Friday 21st July 2023 says there are "noticeable inconsistencies between what is being discussed in the public domain and the thrust of the original complaint on the matter"
The Minister says she's taking steps to examine the origins of the inconsistencies and will provide a detailed response in the coming days.
Here is her full statement.....

Cecilia Abena Dapaa MUST go to Jail like Victor Selormey went. She is a T I E F
Why resign if there were inaccuracies in the amount stolen? Why not account for and argue your case with the correct figures. Resignation gives you out.
Madam, in all these you still have yourself to blame. What prevented you from buying a safe to keep such huge amounts but kept it in your bedroom in a manner that let a house help to have access to. Even if these monies were in a suit case under lock and key i doubt whether your house help would have been able to know the contents much more accessing it. From what we are hearing, the monies were kept loosely thus making it easily accessible. You have added to the woes of the NPP government. The political football being played on this matter will not inure to your benefit. What ever you say, people will hear, but won't listen. You can't be behaving as if there is nothing at stake. Today see the trouble you have brought on the party. Which NPP communicator can mount a convincing Defence for the party on this issue? Even if it's true that there are genuine inconsistencies in your complaint to the police, people will still not take . They will say you want to cover up, you know Ghanaians. You people are just making things difficult for NPP supporters who got nothing from their sacrifices. You sit with friends and they ask you simple questions about trending issues concerning your party and you can't answer because the issues are to glaring for one to attempt any convincing response.
