The trial of the fourteen (14) persons who have been accused of their roles in the murder of Major Maxwell Mahama will come to an end on Tuesday, November 28, 2023.
The seven-member jury is expected to give their verdict on Tuesday after Justice Mariama Owusu, a Justice of the Supreme Court sitting as an additional High Court judge, is done with summing up.
While adjourning the case to Monday, November 27, 2023, for defence lawyers to conclude their final address to the jury, Justice Mariama Owusu hinted that she would do her summation on Tuesday, November 28.
Major Maxwell Mahama, a soldier, was allegedly killed by some residents of Denkyira-Obuasi on May 29, 2017, after they mistook him for an armed robber.
The court, which was today (November 24, 2023) expected to have Lawyer Anim Addo, Counsel for the 13th and 14th accused persons, present his closing address to the jury, had to adjourn the case to Monday, November 27, 2023. The adjournment became necessary because the jury was not properly constituted.
Justice Mariama Owusu adjourned the case to Monday, November 27, 2023 for continuation.

And what exactly does that mean, @BARIMA SINTIM? Your statement has the tone of the same reckless incitement to violence and mob justice which resulted in the brutal murder of an army officer, a citizen of Ghana and above all a husband and father. Here you are again with the same s3nsless rhetoric. You are claiming you are not cowards but what you people did is exactly what cowards do: disregard the law and engage in mob behaviour. May the blood of Major Mahama be avenged upon your land regardless of the verdict of the jury and may the soul of Major Mahama rest in perfect peace.
DENKYIRAMAN SHOULD WAKE UP. LET US PROTECT OUR PEOPLE AND OUR ENVIRONMENT. WE ARE NOT COWARDS!
