The Abuakwa-Asenemaso Emmanuel Methodist Church in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District of the Ashanti Region, has marked its 50th Anniversary celebrations with a call on Christians to avoid the rush for miracles.

The Very Reverend Christopher Nyarko Andam, Kumasi Diocesan Bishop-elect of the Methodist Church Ghana (MCG), said it is unfortunate the manner in which Christians of contemporary times “hop from one prayer camp and church to the other in search of miracles”.

“This has given some self-styled pastors the opportunity to prey on those innocent and unsuspecting Christians for their own selfish interest in contravention with Biblical doctrines,” he said.

The Bishop-elect cautioned the faithful to take keen interest in studying the Bible in order to be abreast of their responsibilities and duties for the growth of Christendom.

Addressing a large congregation of the Church, Very Reverend Andam noted that much as miracles is acceptable within the domain of Christianity, it has its own purpose, and, therefore urged Christians to be wary in order not be defrauded by self-seeking pastors.

“Fifty of Witnessing to Christ; Prospects, Challenges and the Way Forward,” was the theme of the Anniversary.

The Church, as part of the Anniversary, took the opportunity to dedicate its newly-built chapel and also inaugurated a 33-seater bus meant to enhance its activities.

Very Reverend Andam said the MCG put much emphasis on education, and called on the leadership of Abuakwa Methodist to invest in education to augment the human resource base of the nation.

Very Reverend Kwaku Adusei Acheampong, Minister in-charge of the Church, lauded the founding fathers for their vision and mission which had ensured the growth of the congregation.
