Reverend Doctor Joseph K.K. Baisie, Assemblies of God, Greater Accra East Regional Superintendent, has pleaded with all churches in the country to watch the level of noise they make during service.
Rev. Dr. Baisie, speaking at the first Regional Council Meeting, stated that, “I make a solemn plea to all churches to take a critical look at noise making”.
He noted that modern trends and changes in societal preferences had put a demand on changing the way churches dealt with noise pollution in their localities.
He suggested that churches must work at reducing the noise they make drastically while considering sound-proofing their auditoriums if their resources would allow.
The reverend minister also urged government and district assemblies and traditional leaders to allocate places in communities for churches and religious buildings to avoid conflict with residents.
He advised residents not to take the law into their hands by attacking churches in their localities for perceived noise making and disturbances in their vicinities.
Two churches at Haatso in the Greater Accra Region were recently ordered by an Accra High Court to pay damages of GH¢40,000.00 to two residents of the area for excessive noise making and for being a nuisance to the community.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is said to have found that the noise level by the churches ranged between a minimum of 76 decible and maximum of 86 decible which was way above the permissible daytime noise level of 55 decible for residential areas.

Please to the one who said not only the churches but the Muslims also make noise.Let me remind you that the Muslims calling for prayers (ADHAN)last not more than 5 minutes. Those workers who you claim are being disturbed resting on their beds by this , are the same people who uses the calling for prayers(ADHAN) as their alarm watch to wake up early to go to work.Market women and all sort of people who do business. You cant compare these noises made by the churches to this.Rev. Doc. Joseph K K Baisie that is a right step in a right direction.
THE MUSLIMS ALSO MAKES A LOT OF NOISE IN THE MIDNIGHTS IN THE WHOLE COUNTRY. EVERY MUSQUE IN THE COUNTRY HAS HIGH VOLTAGE SPEAKERS PLANTED ON THE TOP. IN MOST CITIES EVERY CORNER HAS A MUSQUE WITH HIGH VOLTAGE SPEAKERS. IN THE MIDNIGHT WHEN PEOPLE RESTING ON THEIR BEDS THE SHOUT ALAAAAAAAAAAAAAKOBARO GOES A DISTANCE OF ABOUT SIX TO SEVEN MILES. THIS DISTURBS WORKER SLEEPING. THEREFORE THE AUTHORITIES MUST STOP ALL THESE NIOSE BECAUSE IT IS A CRIME AGAINST THE STATE WHICH AMOUNTING TO DISTURBING PUBLIC PEACE.
The lorry stations, the “spinning” funeral noise, the loud speaker shouting at taxi stations, the repair shops with loud speakers blasting all day all night must also stop.
MANY CHURCHES IN GHANA BEHAVE AS IF GOD IS DEAFF AND CANNOT HEAR US UNLESS WE SHOUT AND MAKE NOISESS.
Its a good advice they will take it in good faith. There is a one man church which shares a wall with me and the noise is extremely excessive when I complained they used me as a point of preaching by branding me as satan reincarnated. I am heading to the courts soon now that am sure of getting a fair hearing.
