Gardening and Planting of trees has been cited as one major way of dealing with the challenges of climate change. And as a result of this, Stratcomm Africa has launched the 2nd Garden and Flower Show in Accra to promote good health.

The event is scheduled to take off on Friday, August 29, 2014 to Monday, September 8, 2014 at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park in Accra.

The theme for this year’s event is “Gardening for Value- Health, Beauty, Jobs and Income.” This was disclosed by Chief Executive Officer for Stratcomm Africa, Madam Esther Cobbah when she delivered a statement at the premises of the Department of Parks and Gardens in Accra.

She acknowledged the media for giving last year’s event an excellent coverage and hoped same will be done this year. Madam Cobbah announced that it will involve a conference; exhibitions as well as workshops and sessions will be held for young people so as to help them develop interest and explore career and employment opportunities.

“We expect a wider variety of exhibitors, including not only florists and garden enthusiasts but other whose products and services are associated with gardening and the out-door environment… more of those who make flower pots, garden lights, fountains, garden furniture, etc. have shown interest,” she said.

She further explained that the workshop topics will explore the various avenues of generating value from gardens and flowers.

The Stracomm Africa CEO indicated that the event will also see the launch of a magazine called BLOOM.

She congratulated Access Bank Ghana for their partnership and urged other corporate organisations to join and support the event.
Special acknowledgements were made to outgoing minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Akwasi Oppong Fosu, for his role in the renovation of the Department of Parks and Gardens.

Representative of Access Bank, Stephen Abban also expressed his happiness to partner the event since it is in order with bank’s philosophy of ensuring a safe and clean environment.
