The Deputy Upper West Regional Minister, Cezer Kale, says the greatest threat to the development of the youth and the nation as a whole is a societys craze for wealth and its recognition for the wealthy, regardless of the source of their wealth.
He said societys high respect, honour glory and recognition for the wealthy without questioning the source of their wealth, had greatly contributed to the youths indulgence in cyber-fraud, armed robbery and prostitution so that they could make money and be respected by society. These vices, Mr Kale said, should not be allowed to gain grounds, and called for what he termed a reorientation of our societal values.
Mr Kale was addressing the 60th anniversary celebration of the Catholic Youth Organisation (CYO). Mr Kale said it is honourable and dignifying for one to have a good image and reputation, be righteous honest and faithful and uphold national virtues. He said we must as a matter of urgency re-visit and re-embrace virtues like hard work and discipline and strive for good reputation which are needed for our motherland to progress.
