Eight companies on Thursday presented items and cash to the Ministry of Education towards this year�s National Best Teacher Awards scheduled for Ho in the Volta Region on Monday, October 5.
It is under the theme: �Build the Future; Invest in the Teacher Now�.
The companies included EPP Book Services, which presented six computers and accessories, a set of Encyclopaedia Britannica worth GHc10,000 and GHc5,000 cash; Omega Computer Systems, a computer and printer worth GHc1,500; Parry and Company Limited which presented food items such as quantities of starkest tuna and teacher mackerel worth GHc5,000; indomie food products from Indomie Instant Noodles; and Voltic Ghana Limited, which gave cartons of their products.
The rest are Prudential Bank, GHc3,000; UBA GHc2,600; and Agricultural Development Bank, GHc2,500.
Receiving the items, Mr. Alex Tetteh-Enyo, Minister of Education, commended the organisations for their efforts towards motivating teachers to work efficiently and effectively.
He said teachers had sacrificed in the past to train quality human resources required for the country�s socio-economic development.
Mr. Tetteh-Enyo noted that some teachers accepted postings to the remotest parts of the country to impart knowledge to the children and youth, and that their selflessness must be recognised.
