Samuel Dunyo, a farmer who threatened to kill a woman over the acquisition of a building plot was on Wednesday granted a GHC 3,000 bail with one surety by the Asamankese Circuit court.
Dunyo pleaded guilty with explanation and was remanded in prison custody to re-appear on November 18. The prosecution said both the accused and Juliet Afi, the woman he allegedly threatened to kill, were farmers living at Akyem Kwamang. About nine years ago, Dunyo acquired a building plot from the brother of Afi without the knowledge and consent of the family.
A member of the family who did not reside in the town later had information that Dunyo had bought a building plot without the knowledge of the whole family and decided to take the matter up. Dunyo confronted Afi and issued the threat. Afi did not take the matter seriously but Dunyo repeated the threat several times and this frightened her and she therefore made a report to the police.
