A 26-year-old electrician who posed as a policeman and extorted monies from drivers has been sentenced by a Kumasi Circuit Court to 18 months imprisonment.
Yaw Amoah pleaded guilty to the offence of falsely pretending to be a police officer.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Regina Addo-Yobo told the court presided over by Mr Justice D.W.P. Amedior that the convict had been parading as a policeman, arresting and taking money from drivers.
The Motor Traffic and Transport Unit of the Police Service caught him when he mounted an operation in front of the Kejetia branch of the Barclays Bank.
