The Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, Dr Hannah Bisiw, has issued a stern warning to people who apply for water supply from the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) for specific purposes such as construction works or domestic use but end up using it for other purposes, to desist from such practice.
This is because the Ministry will not entertain such practice and will take punitive actions against those who will go contrary to the law.
Dr Hannah Bisiw gave the warning at Akuse yesterday when she inspected a site belonging to Jonathan Kweku Ayetey who had applied for water supply from the GWCL for construction works but is now using the water for the production of sachet water.
The case is currently being investigated by the Akuse District Police to determine whether Mr. Kweku Ayetey has engaged in any criminality such as illegal tapping of water.
Dr Bisiw told Peace FM that her Ministry may also reconsider the supply of treated water to people for construction or non drinkable or non cooking purposes as some communities face water supply problem.
