Ghanaian international Rahim Ayew has told Citi Sports he and his two brothers Dede Ayew and Jordan, are safe after armed robbers stormed their home for the second time in Marseille.

The armed men took away a vehicle, their passports, laptops, cell phones, watches and several other belongings. The robbery occurred on Sunday May 29, during Marseille’s final game of the season away at Caen, which ended 2-2 in the French Ligue One.

Rahim, who plays for Belgian side Lierse, was at their home in Marseille when the incident happened. Abedi Pele, father of the three, was watching his two sons play for Marseille in Paris when the robbery took place.

Rahim Ayew told Citi Sports that about six robbers broke into their house, held him at gunpoint and made away with the items.

“Dede and Jordan had left to go and play their match. So I was at home with one of our cousins and we were watching the game. All the doors were closed except one which was the main entrance. Before we realised they had entered the room. They came in with guns and asked everybody to be on the floor. So I went on the floor and they put the gun to my head and asked me where they could find our belongings.

They went to our bedrooms and took our watches, Gucci bags, shoes and credit cards. They put the gun to my head again and asked me to show them where Dede and Jordan have put their money but I told them I didn’t know and that all that is here is what they have taken so they should leave with it. We were four in the house, two boys and two girls."

The case has since been reported to the French Police.

Rahim said he is worried about how they will travel to Ghana to join the Black Stars for the AFCON qualifier against Congo without their passports. The three were originally scheduled to arrive in Ghana on Tuesday May 31, for the game on Friday June 3.
