The Chief Justice Her Lordship Georgina Theodora Wood has lodged a formal complaint with the Inspector General of Police over threats on her life.

This was confirmed by Greater Accra Regional Command Public Affairs unit of the Police Service. The complaint follows persistent calls by elements within the ruling National Democratic Congress for the Chief Justice to resign.

Last week a group calling itself the Network for Social Democrat threatened the Chief Justice to resign or she will be forced to.
The group contended Justice Theodora Wood’s regime has been characterized by “judicial disorder, bias, corruption, tyranny and dictatorship, as well as judicial arrogance”.

They stated she will "be forced out through the narrow window if she did not do so peacefully through the broad door." It is not clear if the CJ’s complaint has anything to do with the threat by the group.

ASP Cyprian Zenge in an interview with Joy News would not disclose the content of the complaint, saying it will be highly unprofessional to do so.

He told Joy FM that the IGP has directed the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander to, as a matter of urgency conduct an investigation into the complaint. The Regional Commander on Monday took statement from the CJ and has started investigations into the matter.

Cyprian Zenge said the leaders of the Network for Social Democrat will be invited for questioning as part of the investigations.

Greater Accra Regional Police investigates CJ’s threats:-

Greater Accra Regional Command has began investigations into recent threats issued against the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship, Mrs Georgina Theodora Wood.

The investigations followed a directive from the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Paul T. Quaye after a complaint had been made by the Chief Justice.

A release issued and signed by Assistant Superintendent of Police in charge of Public Affairs, Cyprian Zenge said a high powered investigative team led by the Regional Police Commander, Miss Rose Bio Atinga have visited the Chief Justice to take her statement.
The team also visited the Ghana International Press Centre where the press conference was held to find out more about the organizers, the Network of Social Democrats (NESOD).

The statement assured her Ladyship, that the Police in their investigations would leave no stone unturned to ravel all those behind the crime and bring them to book.
Meanwhile, the organisers have been invited to assist the Police in the investigations.

NESOD, on Thursday June 23, organised a press conference at the Press Centre where threats were issued to Her Ladyship the Chief Justice.
