The First Lady, Dr Ernestina Naadu Mills, on Wednesday donated hospital equipment worth GH250,000 to six health institutions in Accra. They are La General Hospital, Mamobi Polyclinic, Ussher Fort Polyclinic, Castle Polyclinic, Kaneshie Polyclinic and Princess Marie
Louis Hospital.
The equipment are theatre tables, hospital beds, colpuscope, oxygen concentrators, wheel chairs, nebulisers, glucometers, Blood Pressure monitors, laryngoscopes, surgical instruments. Others are disposable gowns, drapes, syringes, laryngoscopes, plasters, bandages, ophthalmoscopes and horoscopes.
They are to assist health personnel to discharge their duties
well and deliver emergencies on time. Dr Naadu Mills noted that health institutions in the urban areas faced many challenges including lack of facilities in discharging their duties which sometimes resulted in deaths.
In line with these challenges, she therefore promised during the
Election 2008 campaign to assist health institutions when the NDC was
voted into power.
She said this was the first batch and more would be provided in
future to help make health care delivery efficient and effective in
the country. Dr Naadu Mills, however, called for proper care and maintenance of the equipment to prolong their life span.
