One Fulani herdsman has reportedly died following a shootout with the police on the Tumu-Sissala road. The police have also wounded three others suspected to be armed robbers.
They are accused of mounting a road block to rob market women.
According to the Upper West Regional Police Crime Officer Superintendent Wisdom Lavoe the four who were dressed in Burkina Faso military uniforms blocked the main commercial road leading to Tumu in an attempt to rob traders who were proceeding to the new market in Burkina Faso.
�Unknown to the armed robbers the vehicles were being escorted by the police personnel and they ended up in a gun battle with the police which led to the death of one of the armed robbers,� the crime officer told Joy News.
